About Us
After years of requests, the Faceoff Academy launched the Draw Control Academy in the summer of 2017. The DCA ran a few test clinics in the winter of 2016 and the response was amazing so the FOA decided to open up the first ever DCA Summer Tour in 2017 – eight stops on the tour and the DCA sold out 5 of the 8 events.
Now in 2021 our new DCA Director Caitlyn Petro (Umass ’21) has developed a training system similar to the style of her FOA counterparts. Ball control is very important in every sport and, as you know, in lacrosse it is one of the only sports that the ball is not awarded to the person that was just scored on. These clinics will help your Draw Control person to become better at her craft. The clinics will focus on the warm up, technique work, stick work, movement sets and will have live reps. A huge focus will also be stick skills and lacrosse IQ after the draw so that our DCA athletes reach their full potential on the field.
We also encourage any coaches to attend who are interested in learning more about the Draw Control position to attend our events. The DCA is hoping to continue to help with the growth and development of the game and we want coaches to know they are always welcome at no cost to them.
